Electrode and cell design by structure resolved modeling of batteries

Arnulf Latz is a professor of Electrochemical Multiphysics Modeling at Ulm University and Head of the Department for Computational Electrochemistry at the German Aerospace Center (DLR). He is also a Principal Investigator and member of the board of directors at the Helmholtz Institute Ulm (HIU) for Electrochemical Energy Storage. His research involves developing non-equilibrium thermodynamics approaches and simulations for electrochemical storage and conversion technologies, such as lithium-ion, solid-state, and post-lithium batteries.
Prof. Latz earned his PhD in Theoretical Physics in 1991 and completed his habilitation at Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz. He has a background in academic and applied research, previously leading a group at the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics (ITWM). He is known for connecting fundamental research with industrial applications, participating in various projects and contributing to the development of the β€œBEST” battery simulation software.
